Working with your ATI drivers

If your computer has an ATI graphics board, motherboard, or TV tuner, it also has ATI device drivers installed. These drivers came with the hardware or were installed at the factory when your computer was first built using these components.

In a perfect world, you would never have problems with your hardware. However, the world isn't perfect and computer hardware does fail. In many cases, hardware failures aren't actually hardware failures but rather a symptom of a problem with the device driver. For example, if your ATI graphics card starts malfunctioning, the card itself may be physically perfect only your computer can no longer communicate with it properly.

This is good news because it means that you don't have to buy a new piece of hardware. In fact, you won't even have to open the computer case. Instead, simply reinstall the device driver and you should be back in business.

ATI drivers can fail or become corrupt for many reasons ranging from conflicts with other devices, known issues with the driver itself, power surges, unexpected system shutdowns, and even computer viruses. When you suspect a problem with your ATI drivers, replacing the driver with an updated version rather than the original version is preferred. Even if you aren't having problems with your ATI drivers, consider updating your drivers. Why? Updated device drivers repair known problems and enhance the device's functionality.

ATI Drivers revolutionized

In addition, ATI is known for generous updates in the driver department. An ATI device powered by the latest ATI drivers is far superior than the same device powered by the original drivers.

ATI has revolutionized device drivers. If you have an ATI Radeon graphics card, you are likely familiar with ATI Catalyst and the ATI Catalyst Control Center. ATI Catalyst drivers aren't boring little text files; they are configurable interfaces that give you the ultimate control over your hardware device. The Catalyst contains ATI drivers including a unified graphics driver and video capture driver as well as the ATI Catalyst Control Center. In addition, ATI releases monthly updates! Each new update further boosts the performance and features of your ATI Radeon card or chipset.

Downloading your device ATI drivers update

Where should you get ATI drivers and updates? When you purchase a new ATI device, it will come with a CD containing the drivers. However, since regular updates are provided, you may want to skip the CD and go directly to the ATI Web site where you can download the most current drivers available. Doing so is easy. Simply pick your operating system from the list, the device category, and then the device model. Make sure to be exact because each device and operating system has its own unique driver. Click the GO button and then choose the download option that best meets your needs. For example, you might be presented with a choice of downloading the driver only or the entire Catalyst Control Center.

Get your device ATI drivers updates "the easy way"

Another option for downloading ATI drivers, or any device drivers for that matter, is to use DriverCure software. This software analyzes your computer's hardware configuration, compares it to a database of current device drivers that match, and automates the updating of all of your computer's device drivers.
